Welcome & Introduction

Welcome to this (hot) summer edition of Collaborative Insights – readers will note the growing pace of activities since the publication of ISO 44001.

This edition features a number of important events and major developments over the past strong quarter.

The annual House of Lords Collaboration Reception was held in the Cholmondeley Room/on the Terrace on a fine May lunchtime. This followed a familiar format with keynote presentations, the appointment of two more Fellows, the award of ISO 44001 certificates and lots of networking.

This was followed by the very successful Collaboration in the Digital Economy event sponsored by Leidos at Imperial College. Again this followed a tried and tested format with knowledge sharing and networking and the award of two more ISO 44001 certificates.

The annual ICW Individual Members Conference held at the Lansdowne Club was a thought provoking event. ICW is delighted with the support from the Chair of the Individual Membership committee, David Anderson, and his team for driving this most important initiative.

Training continues to be a major growth activity for ICW with the Warwick based ICW ISO 44001 Collaborative Leaders Course well subscribed. ICW has a collaboration agreement with BSI to deliver Collaboration training across the UK – with discussion to extend to the 58 BSI offices worldwide. Leonardo together with ICW has set the benchmark to develop a bespoke ISO 44001 Collaborative Leaders course being rolled out internally. ICW expects other ICW Management Board organisations to follow suit (over time).

The last quarter involved a number of International knowledge/training assignments with a bespoke training event in Sweden, followed by an ICW ISO 44001 Collaborative Leaders Course in Australia, followed by a Collaboration seminar in Mexico City - such is the growing global interest in ISO 44001.

China, now an active member of the ISO 44001 Technical Committee, is hosting the next International Working Group meeting in Shenzhen in October - watch this space!

ICW is delighted to announce that Kier are joining the ICW Management Board represented by Martin Duffy. Kier are investing heavily in Collaboration training, and are heavily involved in leading edge work throughout their value chain increasing the active involvement of smaller businesses in collaborative thinking. This leads to the next event in October addressing Collaboration for Smaller Businesses sponsored by Kier - details to follow.

The Annual Collaboration Awards at the House of Lords on 13th December rounds off the 2018 calendar year.

ICW looks forward to Collaboration in Automotive in March 2019, the annual House of Lords Collaboration reception on 9th May and a "to be decided" topic in June/July.

ICW thanks all readers for their interest in and involvement with the growing community of Collaborative practitioners.

Best wishes,

Les Pyle
Chief Executive
